Packing for a Girls Trip to Wine Country
Updated: Apr 7, 2020
Heading to California's wine region with your girls for the weekend?! Whether it's for a birthday, bachelorette party, class reunion, or even just because, this blog post will give you a breakdown on the perfect wine country outfits to pack.
OUTFIT 1)
Photographed above is the perfect example of what the weather is like in Sonoma and Napa County; Sunny, bright, hot, hopefully with a little breeze, perfect outdoor weather. The summer months in Wine Country have an average temperature of 84 degrees Fahrenheit. If you're like me, hot weather means sweating in all the wrong places and trying to dress cute but as comfortable as possible. For me this means skirts and maxi dresses. The great thing about this outfit is it's made up of closet stables. You can easily match each of these items with other pieces in your closet.
I paired this outfit with booties because that week I was in desperate need of a pedicure, and because I knew we were going to be doing a lot of walking this day. While wine tasting, make sure you're in comfortable shoes. You're most likely going to be exploring the winery while wine tasting which may include the vineyards and the grounds surrounding them.
In addition to sunglasses, I would highly recommend bringing other forms of sun protection like a sun hat or a shawl. Try to find a hat that you're comfortable wearing with multiple outfits. It took me YEARS to find my hat (far left) and I wear it with almost every outfit.
OUTFIT 2)
This is my absolute favorite outfit right now. I honestly have this dress in all three colors and I have literally worn these sandals and this jacket almost every day this summer (two great closet staples). Not only is this outfit great for wine tasting, I love to wear this out to a boutique restaurant on the Sonoma Plaza, or exploring/shopping around the Healdsburg Square. Comfort and style go hand-in-hand with this outfit, which makes it perfect for a stylish yet laid back girls trip to wine country.
OUTFIT 3)
What's great about a maxi dress is not only is it an effortlessly stylish piece, you can easily dress it up or down. While wine tasting I wore this dress with the same white sandals from the previous outfit for a more casual day-time look. For a nice dinner later that night I switched out the sandals for my nude colored heels (center) to make the outfit a little fancier.
RAINY DAY OUTFIT)
Believe it or not, it does rain in California. But that shouldn't stop you from exploring wine country. My biggest piece of advice is to have good, comfortable footwear that will keep your feet from getting wet. This outfit also works well with leggings and taller boots. I would also bring along a light jacket or a waterproof anorak.
