How to Spend a Rainy day in Wine Country
It's finally starting to rain in California, but that doesn't mean wine tasting season is over!
That's what's great about wine tasting; It's a great year-round activity. I've been winetasting during a rainy day many times and I consider myself a pro at this point! In this article you'll find some tips on how to have the best time wine tasting during a rainy day in California's Wine Country!
Dress appropriately!
Footwear
There is nothing worst than wet feet when you're trying to have a good time and take cute photos. It rained in Napa during my birthday weekend getaway but I came prepared! Boots or booties are my go-to for a rainy day of wine tasting. Pair them with some cute jeans and a sweater or a comfy sweater dress with a scarf.
Dress in Layers
Bring a rain jacket to wear on top of your outfit and protect that cute look from the rain. You can shed that top layer when you're settled at a wine tasting or a restaurant. Most spots will have a coat rack for you to hang your wet rain jacket on. It might not rain a whole lot in California's wine country, but when it does, establishments are more often than not very prepared to make sure you still have a pleasant time without having to worry about where to put your wet coat.
What Else to Bring
For the love of wine, bring an umbrella. There's no shame in it and you will honestly regret it if you don't, and your friends will thank you if you do.
A cute hat is also a great option to protect you from the rain! Not only that, it will totally elevate your look.
Scarves are also a great tool to help keep you warm and protect you from the rain. I have definitely used one to wrap around my head and hair when I've forgotten an umbrella and I needed to run from the car and into a building in the rain.
I like to keep a towel stored in the trunk of my car in case my shoes get really wet or muddy.
Prepare in Advance
Make reservations or call ahead
It's always a good idea to make reservations regardless of the weather situation. But if there is some rainy weather on the forecast be sure to make a reservation at your preferred wineries or restaurant. Dry places to taste wine or eat will decrease and you want to make sure you get a good spot, especially on the weekends.
Don't Sweat the Small Stuff
No matter what happens, you're in Wine Country, have a good time! Don't let a little rain dampen your mood. Besides, after a couple glasses of wine, the rain won't bother you that much any more.
